Making Breakfast

In keeping with my promise to myself, I started making yogurt last week. I've been making granola for awhile, and together the two make a great breakfast. Especially with maple syrup drizzled over the top. I just posted recipes (of a sort) here.

I'm working on cheese now. I made a kind of ricotta this week, but have to wait on supplies to make the more serious stuff. It's gonna be good!

Yogurt and granola is a great combo. I am going to try the granola recipe. I know I'm a wimp, but making my own yogurt kind of freaks me out.

It's not even gross, though. That's the funny thing. You heat milk to near-boiling, let it cool for 15 minutes, stir in some existing yogurt, then wrap it up and leave it overnight. Make John do it. It's so easy and hands-off you'll be amazed. I totally didn't think it would work, but it did. Like magic!

I'm with you, Alana. Homemade yogurt tastes way better and is really easy. I am itching to try making bagels, but haven't found the time yet. If you feel the urge to expand your breakfast regime... Here's the recipe I've been meaning to try: http://www.melindalee.com/recipearchive.html?action=124&item_id=423 XOX!

I made bagels once last summer. They were pretty good, and I've been meaning to do it again. It is a bit labor intensive with the boiling and baking. But they freeze really well, so I really should make a whole bunch one day.

Thanks again for suggesting I make yogurt, Michele! I never would have thought of it if you hadn't said something.
